Oh really

Robert Scoble, one of the louder pro-realname supporters in this Google+ pseudonym debate, said something in a comment to this post by John Hardy that made me both laugh with his arrogance and boggle at his ignorance.

It's not un American, by the way. It's American to SIGN YOUR FREAKING NAME TO THINGS!

Now, setting aside the apparent evidence that Mr Scoble is unaware that the internet does not exist solely in the USA, clearly Mr Scoble has never heard of Publius, the author of The Federalist. Or, as we know today, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, who together wrote a series of essays that is considered one of the three most important documents in American history. (Someone else in the comments brought this up to him. I note that he didn't respond.)

Un-American. Pardon me while I snort with laughter.

On that same post he left a comment with his phone number. In a public post! He really doesn't have a clue, does him? >:(

come on over for a beer and we'll discuss how real I am. My phone number is +1-425-205-1921 and you can figure out where I live pretty easily on the Internet.

Does it make me a bad person if I want to feed him to 4chan trolls?

AAAAA. AAAAAA. No, do not want to take that number and do bad things with it.

Of course not, not at all... *shifty eyes*

I am distracted by the cuteness of your icon and have totally forgotten what I was going to do.

Certainly not buy a calling card and phone him from every pay phone I pass for the next three weeks.

LOL Of course!

Oh, hey, he's in Washington state...north of Seattle, if I'm not mistaken. *koff* And that didn't even take the internet to figure out, just a basic knowledge of telephone area codes.

He's got two really cute kids in his photostream, too; I think his complete disregard for their safety is kind of horrifying—it makes the mom in me all RAWR!—and I hope that no one ever decides to go after them because he's pissed off the wrong person.

See? We has mad skillz!

It makes me angry when I see things like these, doesn't he know he's basically putting their lives in danger? Don't get me started, I may rant for a long time...
And the sad thing is, if someone pointed this out to him, he would probably accuse them of threatening him, not realizing that he's basically doing all by himself!

I truly truly do not want to learn his personal email address and send him a message from a sockpuppet telling him where he works, his boss's name, and what school his kids attend.

I don't want to do that, right? It feels creepy that I even thought of it.

People like him should not be allowed on the internet.
