Better than Facebook?

As a non-FB user who is nonetheless thinking of moving into more real-life connectivity, does anyone know enough yet about G+ to compare it with Facebook? Obviously, FB has all these millions of users to connect with (and games and suchlike) which G+ wouldn't at first, but other than that? Does it seem safer, give me more control over my data, anything like that?

The privacy controls are a lot more transparent and essential to the system. The "Circles" feature is more like friending on Livejournal than anything--LJ if you were strongly encouraged to add someone to a custom friends group immediately. So you automatically sort people into groups like "Friends" or "Family" or "Biking Friends", and can allow other members of a circle to see who's in it, or not. Then whenever you post something, you designate right there whether it's public, all-circles (general flock) or specific-circles (custom flock).

Facebook, on the other hand, got dragged into creating "lists" kicking and screaming, and the feature sucks to boot.
