Can't find people

Here's another thing. Twice now people have said in their journals that they've made G+ accounts, and have listed their username. But when I do a search on that username, I get nothing. G+ offers to let me add the username I searched for (whom G+ thinks doesn't exist), but only if I put in their email address (which I don't know, in either case).

Maybe their system needs time to refresh. (Or maybe those people have banned me! /o\ Just kidding. I doubt it.)

I've noticed that, too. I think there's some caching delay happening. Maybe the search databases take a while to get new people into themselves?

Or yeah, perhaps you've been mistakenly autoblocked by the people's import process.

That seems rather random, to have it happen twice. I hope. *g*

Random, but possible. When I started playing around with my fannish G+ identity, it had created a "blocked" group, with 18 or 19 people in it that were all friends, people I absolutely would NOT have wanted blocked. I have no idea why or how; it was just there. If somebody wasn't paying attention, it's possible.

(this didn't happen with my real name identity.)

People who are blocked *can* add you, though. Which is weird and counterintuitive, but.

And I had several unexplained blocked people too. I don't even know who some of them *are*.

Elsepost, somebody mentioned that, if you had google wave, and had people blocked (which I think it automatically did, if you didn't add them? or something?) that they were then put into a blocked group. Which makes sense, as G+ that had the blocked group was the one I'd had Google Wave on. So that's possible?

I've had this problem, too. Both times it was with a name that was in a "Name X" (e.g. "Regina G") format, so I wonder if that has something to do with it.

That's a good point! The two people I was looking for -- one had that format, too, and the other somehow managed to sign up with a single name username.

I should ask her how she did that.

I just deleted mine tonight. Until they get their act together, I don't need to headache about real names vs. pseud identities. Thank you so much for the invite. I'm going to wait to see how it goes before getting back into the game. Your rec on the google+ community was great--seeing the whole discussion was enlightening.
